PCTE organizes Blood Donation Camp


The Punjab College of Technical Education (PCTE) organized Blood Donation Camp at its campus on 8 April 2009, Wednesday. The camp was organized in association with Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana under the guidance of Dr. Sonia Gupta, Asstt. Professor, Deptt. of Transfusion Medicine. Before the start of camp, the team of Doctors delivered a presentation to all the students of PCTE group of Institutions. The team explained the relevance of blood donation and its usage for the needy people in hospitals.

On this occasion, Dr. K.N.S.Kang, Director General PCTE Institutes informed that the idea of this camp was initiated by BCA first year students of PCTE and this entire event was managed by the group of students. Dr. Kang congratulated all the students coordinators and appreciated their efforts and concern shown to the society.

The team also elaborated various diseases and physical emergencies one can have in which there is always requirement of more blood. Thalesemia is one disease which is spreading in India at faster speed among young kids and there is always requirement of more blood during the treatment of these diseases. More than 150 students of PCTE group donated blood on the occasion. On the behalf of Department, Dr. Sonia Gupta extended her thanks to PCTE and its students for organizing the camp.
