PCTE TO ORGANISE ITS 7TH ANNUAL ATHLETIC MEET


The Punjab College of Technical Education (PCTE) is organizing its one-day 7th annual athletic meet on 21st Feb 2009 at ITBP grounds, Baddowal. Mr. O.P.Yadav, Commanding Officer, ITBP Camp will be the Chief Guest on the occasion. Dr. Albel Singh Kang, Australian Bravery Award Winner will preside over the function. Wg. Cdr. H.S.Gill, Chairman, PCTE Institutes, Dr.K.N.S.Kang, Director General, PCTE Institutes, Prof. I.K.Sachdev, Director, PCTE Institute of Pharmacy, Mr. Tahir Sufi, Director, PCTE Institute of HMCT, Dr. O.P.Sahni, Dean (Academics) along with other dignitaries will also be present on the occasion. More than 1200 students from PCTE, PCTE Institute of Pharmacy and PCTE Institute of Hotel Management & Technology will participate in 22 track and field events for men and women scheduled on that day.

On this occasion, Dr. K.N.S.Kang, Director General PCTE Institutes remarked that Sports events not only help the students remaining healthy and fit but also make them mentally strong and competitive. This year, PCTE has added one more sports event namely “Body Building and Body Lifting” to the list. This competition was held on 19th Feb 2009 at PCTE campus in which 80 boys and 30 girls competed in Body Lifting competition and 12 students participated in Body Building competition.”

Dr.Kang also informed that Tug of War is another flagship event of annual athletic meet of PCTE in which 33 teams from PCTE, PCTE Institute of Pharmacy, PCTE Institute of Hotel Management & Technology and PCTE Institute of Management & Technology participated. This event started on 17th Feb 2009 and continued till 21st feb 2009, the day of athletic meet. The winning teams for both men and women will be given cash award of Rs 1100 each along with winning medals.

The athletic meet will begin 9.00 am sharp with inauguration and oath ceremony. The sports events will start at 10.00 am with 100 meters heats followed by Shot put, 100 mtrs for women (heat), 400 meters for men and women, shot put, 4 x100 relay for men and women, 1500 mters men finals, Long jump for men for women and Discuss throw.
