PCTE Rocks at IIT Roorkee
Punjab College of Technical Education won thirteen prizes at Tarang 2010 three day cultural and literary festival organized by IIT Roorkee a premier institute in India. In the festival approx 1000 students from seventy nine institutes of all over India participated and fought for covated prizes. The festival comprised of events such as Debate, Fashion show, Nukkad Natak, Treasure hunt, Singing competitition and many more, where students had shown their talent and skills. PCTE students participated in all the events of the competition.
In fashion show PCTE students won the first prize and the host team IIT Roorkee stood second. Bobby a student of BBA first year won the best modal award and contract worth Rs 2.5 Lakh by NID they will be sending her to participate in Lakme India Fashion Week. PCTE student’s team of Sachinandan MBA final year and Gurdev Singh of BBA final year won the first prize in debate while Sumesh and Geetanjali of MBA final year won the third prize in the debate competition. In all 27 teams participated in the debate and out of four teams that reached semifinals three were from PCTE and one from Patiala. Geetanjali student of MBA final year was adjudged best speaker of the Debate.. Students from PCTE won second prize in group dance bhangra and Gurdev Singh Student of BBA final Year won Video shoot contract worth Rs 75,000. In Nukkad Natak team of students won third prize with Praveen Shakya and Tanvi Sharma won best actor and best actress award respectively. Abhishek William BBA final year student won first prize in western solo song while Abhishek and Avtar of BBA final year won 2nd prize in Duet singing. In treasure Hunt Team of Geetanjali, Sumesh and sachin of MBA final won the third prize. PCTE students won the first prize in Click competition and Mr Abhishek was adjudged Mr Tarang in the festival.
Dr K.N.S.Kang, Director General, PCTE Group of institutes while congratulating the students for their achievement said that it is always morale booster for the students when they win the competitions organized at national level. Such events help students develop their skills, nurture talent and build confidence which will not only help them in developing their personality but also encourage them to face tough challenges of this highly competitive world. Such events also help students to share their knowledge and learn different cultures with students coming from different parts of the country.
