PCTE Institute of Hotel Management organized interclass chef competition in which seven teams participated. These teams included MBA, MCA, BBA, BCA, B.Sc Bio Tech, B.Pharma and B.Sc ATHM.  Chef Sudhanshu Executive Chef Hotel Majestic Park Plaza and Chef Harsh Chananana Executive Sous Chef Hotel Radisson Ludhiana were the Judges of the event.  Neha, Ritika and Jyoti of MCA Department won the competition. The menu comprised of Indian, Italian and Chinese items like macrooni salad, Manchow Soup, Vegetable Keema and pudding. The second and third positions were won by BBA and BSC Bio Tech teams respectively.

The students showed lot of enthusiasm for the competition. In the preliminary round fifteen teams participated out of which seven teams made it into finals. The boys and girls made the dishes passionately and professionally which confirms that the cooking as a hobby is still popular and is not the domain of single gender. Another interesting feature that competition was that variety of cuisine that was prepared by the students. Chef Sudhanshu Rajhans of Hotel Park Plaza was delighted by the culinary skills of the students and advised all the students to develop the passion for cooking.

Though many traditional and innovative Indian dishes like Navrattan Korma, Tawa Paneer, Nawabi Tarkari Biryani were  prepared by the students- accompanying the Indian dishes were exotic   dishes like xacuti paneer, vinegar chicken, spaghetti and chocolate crepe- which shows that growing awareness and interest in the International cuisine among the students. The Director of the Institute, Mr Tahir Sufi on the occasion said that the main objective of organizing the chef competitions is to make the culinary art popular among all the students so that they do not rely on ready made junk food only.
